What we do
About the Dialogue
OUR WHY
Australia’s largest partnership between philanthropy and government
We recognise a collaborative and long-term approach is needed to ensure all children and young people across Australia can thrive. We believe this requires a different way of working with strong, enduring partnerships between between communities, philanthropy, and government.
The Investment Dialogue for Australia’s Children (IDAC) was established in December 2023 under the Working Together Agreement between the Commonwealth Government and Australia’s leading philanthropic organisations.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to reduce intergenerational disadvantage and to build an inclusive and equitable Australia where children and families can thrive.
OUR WHAT
Collaborative Change for Australia’s Children
The Dialogue is a new way of working. It supports a more aligned and targeted approach by coordinating investments from philanthropy and government, while working with communities and existing organisations on a range of projects and systems reforms that place children and young people at the centre.
On 15 November 2024, leaders from philanthropy, government, and community gathered on Kaurna Country in Adelaide for the second roundtable of the Investment Dialogue for Australia’s Children. Held at the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre, the event focused on listening to community voices and advancing practical opportunities to improve child and family health and wellbeing while reducing intergenerational disadvantage.
In 2025, IDAC’s three portfolios of work: Place, Early Years and Young People are working to connect policy, practice and investment in ways that follow a child’s life journey. The aim is to reach children and families experiencing disadvantage in 50 communities by 2030.
